We meet sometimes
Intimate, loving, brave and exploratory are all words I would use to describe this work in progress, which is a long term project speaking to women and working with them to celebrate their bodies and the experiences they have had within those.
This might be aging, post motherhood, following a chance or challenge or, simply an opportunity to acknowledge their own beauty & remain curious about their health, identity and personal story. It is very much a continuation of the ‘Skin we are in’ project, which is a participatory project with groups of women. Gathering to chat health, menopause, menstrual cycles and motherhood and, which will continue in to 2024.
‘We meet sometimes’ works with those women to continue to observe mindfully, ask questions and share knowledge and; create images together that empower, unite and bring together just a few of the ways that they might understand or relate to their physical selves and how this then impacts their identity.
I’d like to take this chance to thank all of the incredible women involved and as I continue to sit with these images, discover more within those already shot and hear from more women who want to embrace and participate this themselves; I share below just a small selection of the beautiful experiments I’ve been lucky to be a part of thus far.
